FAQ
What is the difference between DD, DMS and DDM?
DD writes each coordinate as one decimal number (40.7128). DMS splits it into degrees, minutes and seconds (40°42'46"N). DDM keeps whole degrees and decimal minutes (40°42.768'N).
How do I convert latitude and longitude to UTM or MGRS?
Enter the coordinates in any format. The tool picks the correct UTM zone and band and shows both UTM and MGRS. These systems cover latitudes from 80°S to 84°N.
Which format does Google Maps use?
Google Maps shows and accepts decimal degrees in the order latitude, longitude, for example 41.0082, 28.9784. You can paste that straight into this tool.
How are signs and N, S, E, W handled?
Positive latitude is north and negative is south; positive longitude is east and negative is west. Letters N, S, E, W can be written before or after the numbers.
Can I convert many coordinates at once?
Yes. Put one coordinate on each line and choose the output format; then copy all results.
Is my data sent to a server?
No, conversion runs in your browser. Only the optional map preview loads tiles from OpenStreetMap.
